More information about the solution:

The application comprised:

  • –A first screen of the single-line diagram type was used to check the real consumption and status of the system per line.
  • A second summary screen showed the calculation of performance, the preparation and display of reports with results for different periods (daily, weekly, monthly and annually )
  • In addition, the system allowed the definition of the minimum sizes of server groups, as well as the disconnection of unused capacity, always within the service levels.

Initial situation

The data centre has 100 kW of installed power with €80,000 in annual energy costs. Its managers prioritised the energy efficiency of the installations in order to reduce the monthly average energy consumption down to 72,000 kWh.

The main energy costs came from the computer and air conditioning systems. Consumption was constant, as the data centre ran on a 24/7 operation. There was no energy consumption forecast or comparison with similar data centres. They wanted to find out their Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) value and compare it with that of other data centres, so they could determine their current level of efficiency, as well as the factors needing improvement in the installation.

History / Objectives

The University of Zaragoza recently implemented an energy management system in its facilities. The objectives were as follows:

  • To find out the electric consumption of its buildings and to allocate the corresponding energy costs
  • To conduct a comparative study with a view to implementing the good practices being used in buildings where lower consumption is detected.
  • To detect deviations in electrical  energy consumption caused by potential breakdowns, failures of the air conditioning timing and control systems and misuse of the various installations
General description

Until now, a part of the distribution of low-voltage electrical energy at the University of Zaragoza has been carried out from 4 transformers, but it has not been possible to break down the energy billing data. By installing 9 CIRCUTOR CVMK2-ITF-405 power analyzers with K2-EXP-SD-MODBUS/TCP cards, the University has beenable to solve this problem, as they can now monitor consumption through the PowerStudio Scada program

Remarkable aspects / Results
  • Them not only visualise data on instantaneous consumption but also save logs of supply voltages, power consumption, harmonic content, wave quality and power factor
  • With this software they can get alarm signals when deviations in the nominal voltage values, disconnections of the main switch or excess consumption of reactive energy are detected
  • The software configuration displays the supply tension, phase current and power consumed by the 9 power analyzers on a single screen, or, with a simple click on the map of the campus served by the analyzer in question, provides more detailed information

  • QNA network quality units with GPRS installed remotely sends all consumption data and incidents to a central server
  • CVMk2 measurement units and the PowerStudio management software

  • Motorised automatic reclosing units allow the switch to reconnect when the leakage or the overload of the installation disappears with no need to send staff to the site

Photovoltaic self-consumption installation in a farming region

Background / objectives

The project was commissioned to AdeInnova in May 2014 and the company presented the update of the photovoltaic self-consumption project. After analysing this project, the company decided to invest in our solutions, with the purpose of reducing the electricity bill, which would almost completely eliminate the use of the gas-oil support generator , a unit that had to be used due to the deficiencies in the supply quality and consumption peaks, improving the energy service quality and reducing the percentage penalties for exceeding the contracted power (25 kW), mainly and repeatedly occurring during solar activity periods, during the day and due to the intensive use of refrigerating chambers and the sprinkler programming system.

Pàmies Horticoles SL is currently acting as the developer and has selected the  15.8 kWp instantaneous self-consumption kit, which features a complete and proven control solution with state-of-the-art technology and zero injection into the distribution  lines - CIRCUTOR's DPC. Our conciliatory Renteknik, together with CIRCUTOR, has designed a proposal to merge other renewable energy sources with battery storage (two solar panels, a windmill and a water turbine) in the network to supply consumption at different installationss

General description

The system includes an EFM that controls and measures user consumption, the renewable generation value and the charge of the battery, giving priority in milliseconds to one source or another depending on its demand, all in real time. Also, the CDP0 analyzer prevents energy from being injected into the network in the case of excess generation and low energy consumption, as Canadian law prohibits it.

The powerful software PowerStudio Deluxe has been installed, integrating the units mentioned above, plus others, such as:

  • TR8 DC analyzers for solar panels
  • RGU-10 earth leakage protection relays with communication capacity, which are motorised, controllable and programmable remotely, sending a warning when triggered.
  • CVM-MINI electrical network analyzers and MC3 efficient current transformers
  • Weather station
Key features / Results

A future expansion is planned to add an electric vehicle charging station. This is a pilot project in a prestigious school, a reference for CIRCUTOR and renewable energies in Canada, which will have an impact on other similar schools and universities thanks to the innovative and high-profile nature of the project.

The telephone company opened a request for bids and CIRCUTOR won against world-class competitors.
The goal was to define a cabinet with two functionalities: energy measurement units with communication capacities and a capacitor bank to reduce reactive power, filter harmonics in the network and optimise the power available in the network for each centre.

General description

The purpose was to design a special reactive energy regulator and expand the existing reactor product range, all in record time and with a minimal impact on cost.
CIRCUTOR offered and supplied the products, which were assembled in Turkey by our subsidiary.
830 units were initially installed in 2009.

  • A successfully completed project by CIRCUTOR in a major national telecommunications company
  • The project was subsequently expanded to 1,000 centres
