The University of Zaragoza recently implemented an energy management system in its facilities. The objectives were as follows:

  • To find out the electric consumption of its buildings and to allocate the corresponding energy costs
  • To conduct a comparative study with a view to implementing the good practices being used in buildings where lower consumption is detected.
  • To detect deviations in electrical  energy consumption caused by potential breakdowns, failures of the air conditioning timing and control systems and misuse of the various installations
General description

Until now, a part of the distribution of low-voltage electrical energy at the University of Zaragoza has been carried out from 4 transformers, but it has not been possible to break down the energy billing data. By installing 9 CIRCUTOR CVMK2-ITF-405 power analyzers with K2-EXP-SD-MODBUS/TCP cards, the University has beenable to solve this problem, as they can now monitor consumption through the PowerStudio Scada program

Remarkable aspects / Results
  • Them not only visualise data on instantaneous consumption but also save logs of supply voltages, power consumption, harmonic content, wave quality and power factor
  • With this software they can get alarm signals when deviations in the nominal voltage values, disconnections of the main switch or excess consumption of reactive energy are detected
  • The software configuration displays the supply tension, phase current and power consumed by the 9 power analyzers on a single screen, or, with a simple click on the map of the campus served by the analyzer in question, provides more detailed information

The telephone company opened a request for bids and CIRCUTOR won against world-class competitors.
The goal was to define a cabinet with two functionalities: energy measurement units with communication capacities and a capacitor bank to reduce reactive power, filter harmonics in the network and optimise the power available in the network for each centre.

General description

The purpose was to design a special reactive energy regulator and expand the existing reactor product range, all in record time and with a minimal impact on cost.
CIRCUTOR offered and supplied the products, which were assembled in Turkey by our subsidiary.
830 units were initially installed in 2009.

Cinemark is an international company, leader in the reproduction of moving images, with 431 complexes and almost 5,000 screens in 15 countries. In Mexico, it has 31 complexes and is ranked third in terms of the most important motion picture exhibitors.

  • Monthly reporting on energy consumption in each complex in the form of a bill, similar to that of a power
General description

All Cinemark complexes receive medium voltage electric supply and almost all have 2 transformers, one at 220 VAC, for the cinema’s general services, and another at 440 VAC, which supplies energy for the whole air conditioning system. As a result, a monitor was introduced in each transformer for each complex, enabling separate readings of the consumption of cooling loads (highest consumer in cinemas) for the rest of the electrical system.

These equipment have been installed in substations, main distribution panels and production lines.

The University of Wisconsin, which has 13 campuses spread around different locations and a total of 182,000 students enrolled, decided to begin the Green Building Project. This project aims to reduce its electricity consumption each year until 2015.
To this end, we provided National Meter Industries with the latest equipment from the CVM family.

General description

Due to their characteristics, these devices are ideally suited for controlling consumption and the main electrical variables: network analysis and monitoring, remote communications (RS-485), 480V power supply (essential in the American market) and reduced dimensions. Currently, the project requires that communications can be converted to the BACnet protocol, which was achieved by using external transducers.

Remarkable aspects/results
Currently, the information network created by the university uses CVM data (Energy, KW demand, and currents):
  • To manage their HVAC system
  • Lighting system and other electrical loads
  • Furthermore, the increased efficiency in the installation is verified with the data acquired over time
